UFO, magician, poet, stirring, disturbing, funny, sometimes grim… These are the words you often hear about Peter Bultink.
Artist et creator at heart, everything begins for him in 2004, when he wins convincing the Biennale de la Chanson française with his project he has modestly called « Orchestre du Mouvement Perpétuel ». The independent label Parsifal immediately signs and offers OMP the opportunity to release a first eponymous album, produced by Serge Feys (T.C. Matic).
Born in Ostend, the charismatic singer disembarks to France, Switzerland, Greece and Canada, accompanied by an argentinian piano virtuoso and unships his songs that leave everyone amazed. Rhythmic, repetitive, hypnotic music, at a time soft and powerful, lyrical and sharp enhances the performances of Peter Bultink. The Orchestre du Mouvement Perpétuel astonishes in 2005 at the Festival of Montauban and their first album is crowned with the prestigious Coup de cœur of the french Académie Charles Cros in 2006.
In 2007, Peter leaps to an even more ambitious adventure and expands the musical strength of the OMP with a watertight rhythm section and a virtuoso cello player. His second album « The All & Nothing Show » imposes a unique, multilayered sound, an improbable combination of sampling, electronics, outstanding rock and classical musicians. Serge Feys signs here for the second time for a high quality artistic production.
« This modern, urban musical power contains a Brechtian intimacy which makes Peter Bultink the most dazzling UFO of the French music scene, amazing, fabulous and unique. » Marc Tison, Music Director, France.
After another impressive array of concerts, Peter Bultink decides in 2008 to take a break and devote himself more to friendship, philosophy and his children. However, during the next 2 years, he soothes his insatiable hunger for new artistic exchanges in occasional projects with Rafik El Maai, a Moroccan Sufi singer and Baloji, the intelligent engaged rapper with Congolese roots and Sacha Toorop, the multi-instrumentalist and singer with Indonesian roots. He also retires in a chalet in the deep Belgian Ardennes to write the outlines for his first solo album « Aux larmes, citoyens ».
From 2010 on, he starts, again with Serge Feys the studio recordings and production of his new album. He invites Baloji, the Gysel Sisters (Zita Swoon, Arsenal), Mirko Banovic, the hyper-creative and exceptional bass player and Lode Vercampt (AKA Moon), virtuoso cello player. Inspiration for the lyrics is mostly found in conversations and philosophical exchanges with his best friend and sparring partner Jobert Van In, finalized by the mother of his 2 daughters, Pauline Tilmant. He also works intensively with his old time partner in crime, Philip ‘SüberdoG’ Franchitti with who he had written already in 2001, « XL », the incontestable hymn of the Orchestre du Mouvement Perpétuel. He also engages actress and singer Katrien De Muynck, who marvelously leads and coaches Bultink during the voice recordings. The role of Serge Feys can hardly be underestimated on « Aux larmes, citoyens ». Peter is very clear on that point : « Serge Feys is definitely the Brian Eno from the Belgian music. »
From 2012 on, Peter Bultink will be on tour with the « TAZ »-band (Serge Feys, Mirko Banovic et Sam Gysel).
